Some citizens attempt to maintain the metropolitan facade; promoting civic cooperation, trying to emphasize neighborhood congeniality, but all for null. Most are apathetic to more than their immediate surroundings, and this blindness is being exploited…

The hole in the former capital of the Confederacy bored by decades of decline has been filled, though none can see it. For it is a black and as endless and as impenetrable as the deepest of holes, and it is only when you take a breathe and dive into that blackness that you realize that it is not the void, but the eternal darkness that preys on the weak, destroys the good, and above all: lurks in the deepest recesses of man’s soul.
